Mustang Sallies: A Posse For Working Women

There’s something you want to do, isn’t there – a dream you have or an idea that will stretch you or your business? 
…but it feels vague or maybe you haven’t figured it all out yet. Or it’s scary.

Or maybe you have something to say – an opinion, or different perspective than the rest of the herd?
…but you know it’s going to ruffle a few feathers, upset the apple cart.

Are there parts or pieces of yourself that you’re leaving at the door when you go to work?
…for fear that they’re not welcome or won’t add value?

What if you didn’t wait any longer? What if you got over yourself and did it anyway?

This Posse of women meets three times a year to do just that – spit it out, name it, fess up, play with the possibilities of owning it…and then take that first step toward making it happen. It doesn’t matter if “it” (whatever “it” is for you) is already in the works, stopped and then stalled, or is just a twinkle in your eye. Mustang Sallies is all about breaking from the herd – mustering the courage to get “it” out of you and into big sky country to see how it rides.

And the beauty of it? You don’t need to do it alone. In this Posse, we’ve got your back.

I don’t care what your particular “work” is in the world – you can be a CEO, an entrepreneur, a community organizer or fish monger. It really doesn’t matter what you’re doing for work, it’s HOW you’re doing it that makes the difference. Are you showing up fully? Are you bringing all your gifts to bear? Or are you playing it safe and pretending not to know?

Because here’s the thing: I think you DO know. And having worked with women over the years in my practice, I will tell you this: we are more intuitive, more wise, and more in touch with the truth and what’s needed than we often realize. So whatever it is you’re being called to do or say or create, just do it.

Spit it out, woman, the world needs what you’ve got – your ideas, your insights, your voice, your vision. You. It’s time.

Easier said than done, right? I’ve been in my field for nearly 20 years, have advanced degrees and certifications, have had my own successful business for years and I still fall into the trap of doubting myself or playing small. I run an event and I think, “do I actually suck and people aren’t telling me?” I write a blog post and think, “Am I delusional and the only one that sees/thinks this?” I have a bold idea – like forming this Posse… – and I think, “Do I know what I”m doing? What if I fail?”

And I work with women enough to know I’m not alone. I see it all the time with women – that feeling of wanting something…but not feeling like you have it all figured out yet, or not being ready, and sometimes not feeling like you’re enough (good enough, brave enough, ready enough…)

But you are. And I am. So let’s go for it. Together.

Mustang Sallies is a fierce posse of women that stands its ground together.

Women can be phenomenal allies for each other, and Mustang Sallies will show you how it’s done if that’s a new experience for you. This posse of women gathers three times a year to hold space for courage, acknowledge the holy shit factors that can arise in us, and insist that we not settle for anything less than our instincts demand from us.

Mustang women do it anyway. Even in the face of fear and doubt and uncertainty. Because we have each other.

The fact is, we need each other. Every woman seeking to step into something new or bold or unknown could use a pack of women to have her back, give her high fives, booster shots of courage, or a kick in the pants to quit talking about it and just do it. It feels so good to have another woman say “Do that!”, “Go there!” or “You’re not crazy, you’re onto something!”

That’s what this posse is about. Women being champions for themselves and each other.

The intent of this posse is to support working women like you in being more expansive – especially when society and workplace culture would prefer if we play small. It’s not about doing more (because you’re already busy, right?), but it’s about bringing more of who you already are to the work you do in the world. And trusting it. Trusting you.

It’s about women changing the world. Ride Sally, Ride.

Here’s how it will work:

• The Posse will gather three times a year – February, June and October – in Portland, Maine for three hours on a Saturday morning.
• Each posse gathering will be structured around the same three components (Plugging In, Naming It, and Striking a Match), but may contain different women each time.
• This is not your mother’s “leadership workshop” – it will be fiery, irreverent, non-traditional, unapologetic, and revolutionary. This posse is about keeping it real, calling it out, blowing through it, and feeding the bad-ass heretic inside you that knows the answer. There will be substance, humor and more than a little swearing as we get to the heart of what matters and juice up on some good mojo.
• Each three-hour Posse gathering is $150.

Tickets to ride will go on sale May 1st. There are only 25 and they’ll go like hotcakes.
Tickets will be available for sale on Brown Paper Tickets, so be sure reserve your seat when they open.
After you buy your ticket, your confirmation email will contain a link for all the nitty-gritty details for the event.
