Last October 3rd-5th, forty -one women gathered on the shores of Panther Pond in Raymond, Maine for Homecoming: A Women's Retreat. Women came alone, in pairs or in entire carloads for one particular purpose...to come home to themselves. For some women this was a new experience - a bold and radical act. For others, it was something familiar and entirely natural. None of that mattered. What did matter was that women said yes to themselves - to putting themselves first, to feeding their cravings, to listening to their inner most wisdom, to returning home. Here is what some women had to say about Homecoming:
"Nearly two weeks after the fact, Homecoming still holds a very significant place in my heart. The weekend was by turns inspiring, restorative, social and private, as well as nourishing literally and figuratively. I've made some small but significant -- and permanent! -- changes in my life as a result of this weekend, which offered both a chance to gather with dear friends and the opportunity to commune with myself. I loved Homecoming, and would do it again (and again!) in a heartbeat."
"I have been meaning to tell you how grateful I am to have experienced all the gifts of the Homecoming retreat. I truly feel that I was fed in every way---physically, emotionally, and spiritually. The entire experience remains as a grounding image for me especially when I am feeling frazzled, overwhelmed or just generally in overload mode.....and as a full time working mother, I get a glimpse of that just about everyday!"
"When Lael told me she was going to have a retreat I knew I had to be there. I had no words to explain why. I just knew. I knew it in the core of my being. And now it's come and gone, and words still fail me. I wish you were there. I wish the food nourished your body and soul. I wish you saw treasured friends sparkle anew. I wish you found new friends that felt like old friends. I wish you were surrounded morning to night by jaw-droppingly magnificent women. I wish you celebrated your homecoming.I'll be digesting the layers of this weekend for quite some time. But I know one thing for certain: If Lael ever does something like this again I will be there."
"Thank you so much for gathering such extraordinary women...both the team leaders and participants. Surely, they were all there because of you. I have this resonating feeling that the effects of the weekend are only just beginning to seep into my sinews. Many thanks and kudos!"
"My husband and I decided early in the year that we would each take vacations of our own whims this year. His was a baseball marathon in Baltimore in May. Mine was Homecoming, surrounded by strong, beautiful women, motivational workshops, crisp firey autumnal sights and smells, and heart-warming, home-cooked meals. My gift was to pause before the long, cold winter months and reflect on my inner core - my motivation, my talents, my gifts and my room(s) to grow.I am one who values experiential learning above almost all else - but perhaps most poignant to me this weekend was the powerful learning that occured in the pauses between the experiences."
"The kind of woman leader that I want to be is one who can create the kind of space that Lael did this weekend - one that invites and allows people to be forthright, open and downright brilliant in sharing their gifts and talents for the betterment of all around them."
Come home to yourself for a three-day retreat on a beautiful lake in the fresh air of Maine. Encircle yourself with nature, like-minded women and a diverse selection of workshops and gatherings. This is a getaway for you, a group of friends, sisters, mothers and daughters, and some new faces.
It's a space to connect with the magic of nature and the feminine spirit.
Space, structure and options - large and small- will be abundant for the choosing throughout the weekend. Let your inner compass guide you. Pack a sweater and a healthy dose of intention. It's your time.
